Levante are reportedly ready to let Sunderland target Ian Harte leave the club this summer.

Reports emanating from Spain suggest Levante are prepared to let Harte move on for free as they look to trim their squad and wage bill.

Harte has been continually linked with a move back to England ever since his arrival in Spain in the summer of 2004.

The Ireland international still has a year to run on his contract at Levante, but it is believed the Spanish club are ready to tear up his contract to allow him to move on.

The news has alerted Sunderland who are keen to bolster their squad ahead of their return to the Premiership.

Black Cats boss Roy Keane knows all about Harte from their days together with Ireland and he could see his experience as vital to his squad next season.

Harte could be keen on a move to The Stadium of Light as he looks to get back playing regularly after a mixed time in Spain.
